It wasn’t the sunniest day of the summer but the Village Show certainly brought the crowds out onto the Common. With a mix of activities old and new there was plenty for
everyone. Here are some pictures of the day. Scroll down for more info.
The afternoon got off to a great start with a helicopter landing courtesy of Carl Leubbert-Rose. Carl and his family have lived in the village for 7 years and this is the third landing he has done for us on show day - a rare privilege for a small village show. Carl is a commercial pilot for BA but he has always loved flying helicopters because of the low flying and the views he experiences as well as the flexibility to land practically anywhere.
By the time Carl had landed, Chris and his team were doing a roaring trade on the barbeque whilst Phil, Jessica and Steve kept everyone hydrated from the bar. The ever-popular icecream stall and a wonderfully varied offering of cakes, savouries, tea and coffee from the Memorial Hall
Committee meant no one went hungry or thirsty.
In the Hall itself, Clare Richardson led a new team looking after the Village Produce and Arts show.
Congratulations to all who entered fruit, flowers, vegetables, baked and preserved goods and arts and design. The online photographic competition was a great success too and the results are on the page opposite.
The amazing Amersham Community Band kept us entertained with their music. This year there were vintage cars, rides and various games going on on the Common and the Dog Show was once again a crowd favourite. Inside the marquee, the team was busy selling raffle and tombola
tickets having already spent time generating donations for the prizes.
The whole event was kept on track by the wonderful Maxine Landell and proceedings wrapped up by Greg Doyle who reprised his role as our smooth selling auctioneer. Thanks to your support and a generous donation from Hertfordshire House the show raised over £4000 as well as
£700 for the Memorial Hall and £400 for Zambian families via the sale of African cards. If you are interested in buying cards please contact Jo Ashby on jo@malambo.co.uk.
Thanks everyone for your help and support. Next year’s Village Show will be on Saturday 6th September. Make sure your holiday plans don’t clash with our annual jamboree!
