Choirs of angels...
Christmas really started in the village with a visit from Amersham Community Band for our annual Carols at Christmas. There was a great turnout from villagers keen for a glass of mulled wine, a mince pie and a jolly good sing along. It may not have been exactly an angelic choir but we made raised the roof with all the old favourite carols. The Amersham Community Band is part of the hugely successful Amersham Band and the carols are also our opportunity to catch up with its founder, Paul Fish....

Christmas Treasure Hunt
Twixtmas was time for the first Winchmore Hill treasure hunt. Some 30 people in 8 teams, from children to grandparents, took part in the two hour hunt by car and on foot around local villages looking for clues. We were very grateful to Amersham museum who opened up for us for a couple hours and to the Potters Arms for hosting us and providing great pizzas for all to round off the day. Helping children with your Xmas tree
This year you could help a child when you dispose of your Christmas tree. Child Bereavement UK, a national charity that is based in High Wycombe. They help children, young people and families to rebuild their lives when a child grieves or when a child dies. In January 2026 they’ll be travelling across Bucks and Berks collecting and recycling people’s real, used Christmas Trees in return for a donation.
