Choirs of angels...

Christmas really started in the village with a visit from Amersham Community Band for our annual Carols at Christmas. There was a great turnout from villagers keen for a glass of mulled wine, a mince pie and a jolly good sing along. It may not have been exactly an angelic choir but we made raised the roof with all the old favourite carols.
The Amersham Community Band is part of the hugely successful Amersham Band and the carols are also our opportunity to catch up with its founder, Paul Fish. He was pleased to report that the music making continues to go from strength to strength with eight bands now meeting regularly at Rectory Meadow in Amersham including a new swing band. Having reached the top the league of brass bands in the UK last year, their top band is now ranked among the very best bands in the world. This is an amazing achievement and we are very fortunate to have such a high-quality group in our community.
One of this year's Christmas highlights was a series of live performances of The Snowman with the Amersham Band accompanying the film. Reviews were full of praise and families around the area had a great spectacle to watch for Christmas.
We wish them continued success in 2026 and look forward to welcoming them back to the Village Show in September and for carols again next Christmas.
