March - July 2025
Penn Parish has seen a transformative few months, with significant developments shaping the local landscape and community life.
Penn Parish Neighbourhood Plan has been officially adopted. We are delighted to report the plan has now been ‘made’ by Buckinghamshire Council. Making the plan is the final step in the neighbourhood planning process, which became part of the development plan on 14 March 2025 - the day after its successful referendum.
Infrastructure and Environmental Improvements
Efforts to improve local infrastructure have been in full swing. The Knotty Green Recreation Area is undergoing more enhancements, with a view to bringing further landscaping improvement forwards later this year. Additionally, the Parish Council is seeking expert advice on dredging work to increase pond capacity, ensuring better water management and ecological balance.
Traffic and Safety Measures
Responding to community concerns, a statutory consultation was launched regarding a proposed speed limit reduction on the B474 Penn Road, aiming to lower the limit from 40 mph to 30 mph. This initiative seeks to improve road safety and create a more pedestrian-friendly environment, from the junction with Woodchester Park into Beaconsfield. We are waiting for an implementation date for this scheme from Buckinghamshire Council.
All change at Buckinghamshire Council
Chair of Penn Parish Council, Mike West has been elected as a Buckinghamshire Councillor. His leadership in local government has been widely recognised, and his new role, will allow him to further advocate for community-driven initiatives. Residents of Penn Parish and beyond will be looking forward to his contributions at the county level, ensuring that local concerns are addressed effectively.
Penn Parish Councillor, Maureen Seymour to attend The Royal Garden Party
Penn Parish Councillor Maureen Seymour has received a rare honour, an invitation to attend the Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace. The invitation is in recognition of more than 45 years of service to local government. Maureen is a dedicated member of the Penn Parish who has worked selflessly to improve the lives of residents in Penn Parish, as a former Chair of the Parish Council, as well as serving on numerous committees.
As Penn Parish moves forward, these developments highlight a commitment to preserving Penn’s charm while embracing progress. Residents can stay informed through the Penn Parish Council website for updates and upcoming events, or via the Parish’s Facebook page.
