Where pets come first - a Finalist's story

My name is Elizabeth Williams and I’m the owner of a small pet care and dog treat business based in Winchmore Hill.  I’m really excited to have recently been selected as a finalist in the Small Business Awards.

I started my business on my own, driven by a genuine love for dogs and a passion for providing high-quality care and treats.  Alongside running the business day-to-day, I’ve worked hard to build a loyal client base locally, offering services such as dog walking and selling natural dog treats.

During a difficult time when my aunty, who supported me immensely, was receiving palliative care, I had already committed to working — looking after people’s pets while they were away. It was incredibly challenging trying to balance being there for my family, travelling to and from Michael Sobell hospice, fitting in my regular walks and making sure the dogs in my care were not left alone for too long.  While others were able to stay, I often had to leave to continue working, which made that time even more difficult.

Being named a finalist feels like a huge milestone, especially as a young, independent business owner. It means a lot to have my hard work recognised, and I hope it inspires others locally who are thinking about starting something of their own.
